My favorite day in Sonoma is quickly approaching! If you have never been to Sonoma’s 4th of July parade, you are in for a treat.
The parade is sponsored by the Sonoma Community Center. Here is the schedule from their website:
Thousands of people show up and parking can be a challenge, so be prepared to walk a bit from your car.
Traditionally, there is a water fight between the citizens (with balloons) and the fire department (with their truck) along First Street West near the Steiner’s Tavern.
This is just another part of this wonderful day. It is quite fun to watch. One of my favorite memories of the parade is looking up and seeing 50 or more colorful balloons in the air with the bright blue sky behind them. Mind you, I was making my way AWAY from the target zone at the time!
If you don’t want to get wet, don’t sit in this area.
Come to think of it, I haven’t seen anyone get wet along First Street East. That may be more of a ‘dry zone.’
The parade will likely last two hours or more.
See you there!

The Phantom Limo and I will be in the Parade for the first time this year!
“SONOMA GHOSTS – True Stories of Sonoma’s Haunted History” has sold out four times at Reader’s Books, Twice at Bookends, and once at Plaza Liqueurs!
Look for me in the Parade!
