Wine Country Kitchen Tour
Sunday, October 14, 2007   9:30-3:30pm
See how homeowners, designers and builders, are creating-or recreating-kitchens today during the Sonoma Community Center’s 3rd annual Wine Country Kitchen Tour and Luncheon.

A benefit for the Center’s own planned kitchen makeover, the tour features six Sonoma Valley kitchens, selected for their architectural significance, decor, style, creative use of space and innovation, as well as their uniqueness.

This year’s selection includes a ‘green’ home built using sustainable materials, a newly remodeled Craftsman-style kitchen that maintains its vintage charm, a showcase Italian beauty and more.

Chat with the homeowners, designers or docents, many who are local real estate agents with extensive knowledge, to learn details about the kitchens, their history and interesting remodeling processes, including information about architects, designers and contractors.

An al fresco luncheon with special guest chefs, Ben Mohan and Matt Murray from Whole Foods will be offered at one of the homes on the tour.

Sonoma Kitchen Tour tickets:
$35 if purchased by September 30th,
$40 after September 30th, and on the day of the tour.
Luncheon buffet tickets are $20. Please reserve by September 30th.
SCC members receive a $5 discount on the tour.

Tickets are available at the Sonoma Community Center office, 276 East Napa Street, Sonoma. Please contact the SCC office at 707-938-4626 x1

Sponsored in part by Whole Foods, Dacor and Standards of Excellence.

Jewelry Making: Precious Metal Clay (PMC)

Precious Metal Clay (PMC) is a new and exciting media that requires no jewelry or metalworking experience.  The clay is made of molecular-sized particles of fine silver in an organic binder.  It can be formed, carved, stamped, folded and molded and even set with stones. During this one-day workshop, Mary Neuer Lee will introduce students to PMC as they create pendants, beads, and earrings, and learn finishing and coloring techniques.  The total cost of the workshop includes a $35 materials fee.  A tool kit will be provided for use during the workshop and may be purchased upon completion of the workshop for an additional fee.
$95  ($89 for SCC Members)

Sandy Simon pottery
During this workshop, Sandy will demonstrate making covered jars, bowls, handles, plates, and her use of nichrome wire in pots for daily use.  Discussion and questions will be encouraged on a variety of topics including how to “unlock” each individual’s creative vein.  Sandy will also share her knowledge of the fundamentals of gallery ownership and offer some practical advice gleaned from her experience dividing her time between her art and her business.
Sandy is a studio potter and in 1994 opened TRAX Gallery in Berkeley to provide greater representation for ceramicists dedicated to utility.
