Brenda Kinsel, author of “Brenda Kinsel’s Fashion Makeover: 30 Days to Diva Style!” will be at Readers’ Books on Thursday, at 7:30 p.m., to talk about how to put yourself together with verve and style. She will demonstrate how to create outfits with clothes from “Bear Moon” and “Sister’s” clothing stores in Sonoma. Everyone who buys a book will be eligible for the grand prize—a fashion session with Brenda at one of the featured stores.

In “Fashion Makeover,” Kinsel gives women of all ages the tools they need to update their looks in just four weeks—from clothes, to hair and make-up, to self-confidence—while remaining true to herself. She has the knack of motivating people to be themselves only better, without resorting to inauthentic gimmicks. Her suggestions are not extravagant, just smart. The book has full-color fashion illustrations and style solutions for every body type.

Drawing on 20-plus years as an image consultant, Kinsel has worked with many well-known authors and celebrities. Isabel Allende says, “Brenda Kinsel helped me to dress and look my best…to train my eye. For the first time in my life, I like the way I dress.” Kinsel has written several books about style. She makes her home in Sonoma.

Readers’ Books is at 130 E. Napa St., Sonoma. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call 707-939-1779.

Saturday, November 17, 4 p.m. Victoria Randall, author of “Pony in the Picture “ will be at Readers’ Books, 130 E. Napa St., Sonoma. For more information, call 707-939-1779.

_Press Release_

Victoria Randall, author of “Pony in the Picture,” will be at Readers’ Books on Saturday, November 17th, at 4 p.m., to talk about this endearing collection of antique and vintage photographs of children posing proudly with ponies and horses.

Children have a special affinity for the ponies of their youth, whether they actually owned them or were given a ride at the fair or carnival. The images in the book, often taken by an itinerant photographer who traveled the countryside, capture a moment in time when it seems that all it took for a child to experience pure joy was the presence of a shaggy Shetland and a borrowed cowboy hat.

Most of the photos were taken in the United States and Canada from 1880 to 1990, with a few surprising exceptions. Most are dated and many have stories to tell. A great gift for horse lovers, young and old.

Randall is a collector of antique equine art as well as the Executive Director of the Eureka Theatre in San Francisco.

Readers’ Books is at 130 E. Napa St., Sonoma. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call 707-939-1779.
