Tito La Rosa Bio:

Tito La Rosa, a descendent of Quechua Indians of the Peruvian Andes, has for more than a decade, has been recovering and preserving, studying, and intuiting the ancestral music of Peru.

La Rosa was asked by the Peruvian Institute of Culture to play 2,000-year-old instruments at the Museum of the Lord of Sipan to reinvent the sounds these instruments made. In recreating the sounds of this culture that had disappeared into time, La Rosa stated “Time, like death, is a lie.”

Experimenting with the sounds of these 2000-year-old musical instruments, speaking with the archeologists, listening to the sounds of the wind and the murmuring of the birds when flying, La Rosa was deeply moved by this acoustical and magical mochican world, resulting in new “ancient” compositions.

Featured guest artist on New Age superstar Kitaro’s 2001 Grammy-winning CD “Thinking of You,” La Rosa has toured with Kitaro in Japan. Kitaro has said of La Rosa, “His attraction to the Spirit dimension and his love of all things from the natural world allow him to traverse musical landscapes with tranquility and deep passion.” La Rosa has also recorded with Mary Youngblood on his Silver Wave record label (www.SilverWave.com), of which BILLBOARD Magazine says: “La Rosa and Youngblood interweave North and South American winds like smoke..” La Rosa’s 2002 CD, “The Prophecy of the Eagle and the Condor” was nominated for a Native American Music Award, for Best World Music Recording.

Tito is also a Curandero de Sonido, a Shaman of Music. When performing ritual and ceremony for healing, he enters into an altered state to bring forth sound that elevates the frequency of an individual and allows for healing and balance to occur.

La Rosa was a main presenter at the International Conference on Traditional Instruments in Contemporary Music, sponsored by the French Government. He also took part in “Heart and Hands: Musical Instrument Makers of America,” a Smithsonian traveling exhibit.

July 5th, Ten Foot Tone, plays the Little Swiss !!!!!

Ten Foot Tone, Jon, Gerard, Luis, and Michael are going to play live at the Little Swiss on July 5th from 8-midnight, 19080 Riverside Drive, Sonoma.  Only $8 to get in.

Ten Foot Tone is one of my favorite bands.  Their great energy, powerful lyrics, positive message, and all around goodness make them wonderful to listen to and EXCELLENT to see live.

Their cd Elevate is the one I put in the player when I am ready to dance around the house and put a smile on my face.

Their live show takes the whole thing to a new level. They bring all sorts of toys and other props with them.  The last time I saw them live, they provided costumes for the audience to wear!  (Warning:  the white, Mickey Mouse type hands are fun to wear but they make your hands sweat!)

Visit their website www.tenfoottone.com to see videos and hear audios.  Don’t miss the video for Time Is Not Money.  It cracks me up every time I see it.

They will also perform in Sonoma’s 4th of July parade.

I found one of their videos on You Tube.  This gives you a good feeling for the goofy stuff they do.

Toning Circle, Sunday June 8th, with Margy Henderson

Sunday June 8 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

What are the natural sounds of reverie? What’s sound does the intuitive daydreamer naturally follow to gain relaxed peace of mind, quiet heart, so that insight can naturally occur? Humming, whistling through the teeth, sighing?

Toning is to allow vocalization of inner states without mental constraint or plan. Body can express its stories. Soul can sing guidance. Let’s un-stifle the song of the big yawn. Let’s sing back to the birds (I’ll put out plenty of birdseed that morning).

Then we will take time for authentic movement to rain stick melody and Tibetan bowls.

To be in loving support with each other as we offer our sounds collectively—-this changes us as we do it, and as each one takes a turn receiving it.

Something fierce and revolutionary can come from the unblocked soul’s expression. Our changing world can use some unfettered peaceful truth tellers. Insight and creativity are powerful change agents. Maybe we can find our true voices by letting go of the words for a time. Toning Circle is evolutionary fun.

Healing may not be so much about getting better, as about letting go of everything that isn’t you  – all of the expectations, all of
the beliefs – and becoming who you are.

Knowing love I shall allow all things to come and go, to be as supple as the wind and take everything that comes with great courage. My heart is as open as the sky.”

Toning Circle with Margy Henderson, Nov 17 or 18

November 17 or 18 , 10am to 1pm

Come one day or both!

Margy Henderson, one of the founding members of Threshold Choir, would like to share her sound skills with those who would care to use their own voices for healing self and others.

Toning and intuitive chanting are easily learned. Toning is singing non-worded notes and harmonies. With a loving intention we can be supportive by creating an atmosphere of helpful vibration. Just as lullabies are sung to a small child, we are there to comfort, not to perform.

A Toning circle begins with a short ritual to set a sacred space and for participants to open to their own divine impulse and awareness. Some time is then spent softly toning vowels. As the voice (and any judgments) relaxes, Margy will lead us through different uses of toning for meditation and self-healing. We can then begin to sing toward a volunteer in the middle of the circle, offering loving sounds for the relief of pain, grief or anxiety.

For Threshold members toning is helpful when we are at the bedsides of those near death, in coma, or very young. Sound Healing is not the fixing or improving of another. It is a form of love being offered to support the friend’s next place of growth, whatever the person is ready for.

Toning induces trance in both the singer and the friend. Trance states are naturally experienced often during each day, but the intentional opening to intuitive sound increases the potency of the trance state. It is then that there seems to be more time, looser space, and room for something New to arise.

PLACE: Margy’s house, 945A West Spain, Sonoma
